New Members and a Decision

Light filtered through the warrior's den as Iceshadow blinked awake. It had been a few sunrises after the meeting in Cloudstar's den about Grays' arrival. Though Iceshadow as irritated because his father wouldn't let him know the final decision, he knew Cloudstar had to make an announcement about it sometime. Better get ready. Goldenbreeze will be setting up patrols soon.

He shouldered his way through the den entrance, enjoying the steady breeze that drifted around the camp's walls. More prey will be out, since the heat died down a little. He thought happily. The Clan usually had to hunt at night during this kind of green-leaf, and though their eyesight was keen, they still weren't use to the nocturnal hunting. But as he got ready for a nice, peaceful day, he heard a loud hiss and a surprised exclamation from the fern tunnel.

"Intruders!" Someone hissed, and Iceshadow recognized Crescentpelt's voice.

"Hurry! Scare them off!" Another growled, this time it was Birdpaw, her mentor, Stormfang, at her side.

"Hold on a minute." Cloudstar's gruff mew surprised the cats, who whirled around in surprise. "Let us hear what they have to say." He beckoned the newcomers closer, and Iceshadow finally got a good look at them. One was a lean black tom, with a smudge of orange on his nose, while his companion had a bright ginger coat.  "What are your names?" The black tom gulped, while the ginger one stepped forward, not even daunted by the Clan leader.

"My name is Spark, and my friend is Stone. We have heard many stories about your Clan, and we wish to join." Cats murmured in surprise while Cloudstar studied them closely.

"Very well. But we must present a ceremony to truly welcome you into our Clan." He bounded across the clearing towards the Oak Branch, Spark and Stone following close behind. As he settled himself on the branch, he began to speak. "Spark, Stone, do you promise to uphold the warrior code, even at the cost of your life?" Though the cats had many things to learn, they spoke clearly with confidence.

"I do." They both said, their green eyes gleaming.

"Then I give you your warrior names. Stone, you will now be known as Stoneheart. Spark, you will be known as Sparkfire. We welcome you into OakClan." Cheers rang throughout the crowd, but Cloudstar silenced them with a wave of his tail. "Now, onto some other news. Gray, the rogue who saved Iceshadow from the foxes, has asked to join OakClan. He showed courage and bravery on the day we met him, and I see no reason to turn him down. Though he does not wish for a real warrior name, he is now a true member of OakClan, and will be joining the Elder's den." Cheers echoed around the camp wall with the newly named members of OakClan. Though Iceshadow could see his Father was happy, he still caught a glint if suspicion in his eyes as he set his gaze on Gray.

  1. "Hmph, some clan," Sparkfire mused to himself.
"Isn't it wonderful?! I bet my sister would just love it here!" Stoneheart agreed excitedly.
"Stoneheart," Sparkfire let out an annoyed sigh. "You don't have a sister."
"Hm? Oh, right! Well, if I did, she'd love it here!" Stoneheart, unphased by his friend's statement, meowed cheerfully.

  3. Goldenbreeze padded over to Cloudstar, and saw that his gaze was on Gray. "I can go talk to him.. about clan duties if you would like me too."
    --Goldenbreeze

Stormfang padded over to Sparkfire and Stormheart. "Hi there! I'm Stormfang, and welcome to OakClan!" the gray tom greeted with a smile.

Dragonpaw saw how well OakClan cats cooperated with one another, which made him have this feeling to go see his sister, Raven. But he was a clan member, and had to have his loyalty here. With an idea, he padded over to his mentor, Iceshadow. "We should try something new today, like... maybe a hunting session where I go by myself and you track me to see if I do it right?" Maybe with this idea, I could find Raven.

  4. "Very well. That might be the best thing to do. Tell him just the basics about Clan life, and how Elders always get fed first. I'll also send Goldfeather on his way to see if he has any wounds from traveling." Cloudstar meowed to his deputy.

Iceshadow mulled it over. "Hmm... I guess so. Since we usually do with another warrior and apprentice, I'll go see if Hawkeye wants to test Birdpaw." He looked around, trying to see if his friend was in camp.

  5. Goldenbreeze nodded, and padded over towards the Elder's Den. "I'm here to teach you the basics about Clan life, also, Goldfeather is going to come and check to see if you have any wounds," she meowed, sitting down.

Dragonpaw smiled, and waited for Iceshadow.

  6. "Hi!" Stoneheart meowed cheerfully.

"Thank you." Sparkfire butted in before his friend could say anymore. "We are happy to have joined and are thankful we're being accepted."

  7. Gray nodded. "Alright. My limbs are a bit stiff, so hopefully she'll be able to help that. I'm not as young as I used to be." He joked as he stretched each of his paws tentatively.

  8. Fallenpaw pricked her ears and padded out. She saw the two new cats and trotted over to them. "Hi, I'm Fallenpaw, nice to meet you," she said warmly.

  9. Hawkeye padded over to Ravenpaw. "I think I heard Iceshadow mention hunting, so we might go out after all today. I'll come get you of we do go out." he moved away a bit and worked on getting a burr out of his fur.

  10. (DawnDragon isn't really commenting right now, so you can just pretend that Ravenpaw says yes if they don't comment soon xD)

Iceshadow spotted Hawkeye, and made his way over to him. "Hi! I was wondering if you wanted to join Dragonpaw and I on a hunting session, just to see how they're coming along with their training. What do you say?"

  11. "Hi! Well aren't you just the kindest she-cat!" Stoneheart cooed.

Letting out an annoyed sigh as he rolled his eyes, Sparkfire shot Fallenpaw an apologetic glance. "Ignore him, please. It's nice to meet you two. I'm Sparkfire and this tom, who clearly has bees in his brain, is Stoneheart."

[I just noticed that I have some weird cats...]

  12. Hawkeye looked up. "Sounds great! Ravenpaw!" he looked over at his apprentice. "Let's go hunting." He said.

  13. Stormfang grinned at the Stoneheart and Sparkfire, chuckling at their friendly behavior towards each other.

Goldenbreeze smiled, flashing her sharp white teeth. "First of all, you are our clan Elder, so you get fed first and tended to by an apprentice."
    --Goldenbreeze

Dragonpaw purred as everyone was ready to do his little idea of hunting. He turned to his mentor and asked, "Where should we go hunting?"

  14. Fallenpaw smiled. "Oh, it's fine," she said conversationally. "I'm the medicine cat apprentice, just so you know, so come to me or my mentor, Goldfeather, if you're injured or something."

  15. Gray nodding, listening intently. "Do I have to go out and hunt, too? Surely I must repay you somehow." He asked.

Iceshadow thought for a moment. "I suppose we could go near the stream that separates us from DuskClan. Many animals come there to drink." He then turned to Hawkeye. "Where is Ravenpaw going to hunt?"

  16. "We will," Sparkfire promised.

"With him being so reckless, you'll probably see him a lot, Fallenpaw!" Stoneheart wacked the ginger tabby gently with his tail.

"Reckless?" Sparkfire snorted. "I've never heard anything so absurd."

  17. Hawkeye considered the territory for a moment. "I'll send her to the area around the training hollow. There should be plenty of prey there." He told Iceshadow.

  18. Iceshadow nodded. "Sounds good." He then waved his tail towards his apprentice. "Come on, lets try to get back before sundown."
