"Like this?" Dragonpaw said excitedly, and started to dig vigorously near the tree, spraying dirt everywhere.
"Well... Yes." Iceshadow meowed, flicking a clump of dirt off his ear with his tail-tip. "But try to do it a bit more slower so that the dirt doesn't go flying everywhere, since we need to cover up the holes after we're done."
"Why?" Dustpaw asked inquisitively, as what he was doing throughout the whole lesson. "Wouldn't it just be easier if we left them open to come back to some other time? If we didn't, we could have to dig the hole all over again!"
"Good question." Blueflower replied this time. "We have to cover the holes so that cats don't fall in, and wrench their shoulder or something. Though it might be easier to leave the holes open, it is safer to cover them." The apprentices nodded, then went back to work on the large oak tree.
As Iceshadow went about the apprentices, giving them some hints and tips, a strange scent traveled through the clearing they were in. "Huh. Blueflower, do you smell that?" He said quietly to the she-cat, not wanting to disturb the apprentices.
"Yeah... A bit. I think it's coming from over there." The she-cat pointed to the other side of the hollow, and Iceshadow nodded.
"Alright, Blueflower and I are going to do hunting while you continue to dig up the tree roots. We'll be right back, we just spotted a juicy rabbit nearby, that's all." He informed them, cautiously following the scent trail. "It smells like cats... But not StellarClan or DuskClan..." So who must it be? Giving a worried glance towards Blueflower, he crept on, making sure that the wind didn't draft their scent over to the potential trespassers. As he crept around a holly bush, he started to hear voices.
"There's no water here, either." A dark, husky voice sounded. "Why don't we try over there?" Iceshadow saw the tip of his dark tabby tom flick over to DuskClan's side of the border.
"Mouse-brain! Do you know how flooded that territory is? Plus I heard from Chip that they had a huge battle last sunrise or something. I'd rather not get tangled up in that." Iceshadow could see this tom more clearer than the other one. He was a scrawny, dark ginger and white tabby with ragged fur. "There's plenty of prey over here, why don't we settle here?"
"Are you all a couple of dumb rabbits? There are cats everywhere, can't you smell them?!" A low hiss sounded from a burly, black tom who crept out of the shadows. "And I thought you were some of my best cats." He lashed his tail, his amber eyes dark. "But yes... We could use this for a while. But we'll have to chase out those runts that already live here. It seems easy, though. Seeing that there is hardly any water here... They are probably just a bunch of weaklings. Come on, we're going back to the others to tell them the plan." One by one, the cats emerged from their hiding place and followed their leader, and Iceshadow's eyes widened as big as moons.
"Blueflower! Go back and get the apprentices, I'll get back to camp and inform Cloudstar!"
~*~
"Rogues?! On our territory?!" Cloudstar snarled, lashing his tail. He had fully recovered from losing his life which was just a few sunrises ago. "How many?" He demanded as Blueflower and Iceshadow sat in his den, with Goldfeather nearby.
"Well, we only saw three. But by the way they were talking, we should be suspecting a lot more." Iceshadow replied, recalling the cats."Their leader is this big, muscled, black tom." Cloudstar nodded, letting the information sink in.
"So that's what I smelled!" Goldfeather exclaimed, her eyes wide. As the three looked at her with curiosity, she explained. "When you informed me that Cloudstar had lost a life, I scented something out of the ordinary... But since we were in that situation at the time, I had no time to think about it. And by the way they are describing the scent, I believe it was the same one I smelled." Cloudstar nodded, listening intently.
"Okay. I want the apprentices out for battle training, just in case. These rogues sound fierce. I also want the fresh-kill pile-" His meow was cut off by a screech, and then hissing and snarling.
"Rogues!" Iceshadow recognized Mistyfur's yowl.
"What?! How are they attacking so quickly?" Iceshadow barely had time to think before he was out in the camp clearing, battling with a broad-shouldered gray tom. Great StarClan! This is much more cats than I had imagined... He looked over to the nursery, seeing that Shadowsplash had just sent a calico tom running. Even the Queens are fighting... He looked over to the Medicine Cat den, and saw that even his sick clanmates were fighting. StarClan be with us today...
(Are we allowed to join as rogues?)
ReplyDeleteBirdpaw bristled. Great Starclan! One minute we're all cooking and the next we're fighting! She snarled and crashed into a young rogue about her age.
~Birdpaw
Fallenpaw's fur rose and her eyes widened. I can barely fight! Starclan, help us! She swept up all the herbs and began to stuff them in hidden crevasses. She glanced over at the sick warriors fighting as hard as they could, even through harsh coughs. Her gaze softened for an instant before she hid herself in the ferns, hating herself for not being able to do anything.
~Fallenpaw
Crescentpelt positioned himself, a ferocious snarl on his face, in front of the nursery. None of these mangy rogues get the kits on my watch.
~Crescentpelt
Shadowsplash briefly yanked calico fur out of her claws, a look of satisfaction on her face. She saw two dark tabbies heading straight for the Nursery and tackled one with such a force it was swept of its paws. The she-cat screeched, slashing the Queen's face; just barely missing her eyes. Shadowsplash yowled as the two wrestled on the dusty floor.
ReplyDeleteClawkit, Ravenkit and Badgerkit huddled in the back of the Nursery, eyes wide as moons. They had seen fighting before, and knew a few moves themselves but were far too small to have any chance of survival if any of the rouges reached the milky den.
Mistyfur looked at the other dark tabby coming tawards the nursery and leaped at him silently. She slashed out at it's face, and dodged a hard blow. That would most lickly knocked her out.Frowning she leaped over the rogue before it could slash at her,in mid air she twisted around so she could reach out and rake her claws over it's back as she landed behind it.
ReplyDeleteBlueflower bounded out of Cloudstar's den,and soon found herself fighting a dark ginger tabby she-cat.
Honeyfrost fought beside her apprentice, slashing her claws down a rogues side.
Dustpaw tackled a young rogue. They rolled in a storm of slashing and shreding claws he landed underneath the it.He quickled pounded at it's underbelly, the rogue loosened it's grip just enought for him to slide out from underneath it.
Squirrelfoot fought a rogue aswell as she could beside the elders den.
Echokit and Toadkit looked at the nursery entrence, where they could see Cresentpelt.Echokit's blue eyes were wide with fear.Toadkit was frowning worriedly, his tail tip twitching. What are we going to do if they get in?He thought.
(Sure :3)
ReplyDeleteCloudstar battled two rogues at once, expertly dodging and delivering harmful blows. "Nice try, mousebrains! You'd think we'd let you take over our territory?" He sent on the cats, a burly black tabby she-cat, flying with his back paws. "Think again!"
Iceshadow fought beside his mother, back to back as they clawed at their opponents. This is one of the rogues that Blueflower and I saw before! Iceshadow said, eying the scrawny dark ginger tom as he flashed out his paws. Though he may be small, his leader did say he was one of his best cats... I better not underestimate him.
Shadowsplash hissed as a jet black tom gripped her tail from behind. Instead of spinning around, she lashed out with her hind paws only satisfied with she felt them kick into the tom's jaw hard. He fell back with a thud but was instantly on his paws and lunging at him again. She lunged too, but at the last moment tucked into a roll. The tom flew over her, yowling in surprise, and when he landed she raked curled claws down his hind quarters. When the black cat tried to copy her kicking move, she was ready and ducked; slipping under his belly swiftly and raking his soft fur underneath. Shadowsplash gasped in surprise as her scruff was grabbed and she was violently thrown by a big gray tom.
ReplyDelete"Why are you so terrified?" Firekit snorted as his brown gaze locked on the other kits. "I want to be out fighting!" He puffed up his still fluffy kit fur in an attempt to make himself appear bigger.
ReplyDeleteSnowpaw didn't utter a word as he sprang to Dustpaw's side and began attacking the rogue that was fighting his new clanmate.
As soon as the rogues had burst into the camp, Stoneheart was racing to Sparkfire's side. He would never let his best friend die, especially at the claws of rogues.
"You don't have to help me you know." Although he was weak, Sparkfire's eyes burned with fire as he flung himself at a nearby rogue, Stoneheart immediately taking up a position where he could help the sick tom.
Gray cowered inside the Elder's den, not daring to come out, even to fight. My old group. He thought, fear fluttering in his chest. Are they looking for me?! I thought I finally got rid of them...
ReplyDeleteSnowfall let out a screech as a rogue's claws scoured down her shoulder. In retaliation, she tried to rake his muzzle but dehydration had left her weak, and she barely left a mark.
Iceshadow whisked around at the sound of his mother's distress, ignoring his current opponent as he barreled into the sandy colored tom she was battling.
Clawkit's pelt burned with anger. "Then why don't you?" He stepped forward, forcing himself not to cower at the screech that split the air outside the den; which was their only protection now. "We'd all be better off with you getting torn up, than having to listen to your squawking voice all day."
ReplyDeleteRavenkit flattened himself to the ground, wondering why Clawkit always let everything get to him.
Badgerkit was uninterested in the quarrel between the two toms. She was too busy trying to catch sight of Shadowsplash. Please don't get hurt! She didn't want her mother to die not having the chance to be loved by her.
Shadowsplash landed with a thud as the tom tossed her aside. The two rouges were prowling up on her now, eyes flashing with bloodlust. She tried to stand, but pain shot through one paw. Getting up awkwardly and off balance, she held up the paw gingerly. "Is that all you got, rat-breath?" She spat, arching her back and bristling fiercely. The two hissed, lunging forward. Shadowsplash was barreled over and found herself wrestling one cat, while the other threw in painful blows.
Goldenbreeze ran out of the warriors den and charged at a nearby rouge. She toppled over it, and started clawing it.
ReplyDelete--Goldenbreeze
He ran into the clearing and started attacking the nearest cat to him.
--Stormfang
He heard yowls from camp, so he darted back as fast as possible. When he saw a large group of cats attacking OakClan, he unsheathed his claws, narrowed his eyes, and ran to them. He started attacking.
--Dragonpaw
"I've been told not to go out there, mouse-brain! It would be better if you were out there too!" Firekit snapped.
ReplyDelete"Go!" Sparkfire shouted as he swiped at the rogue he had been fighting.
"I can't leave you to fight on your own!" Stoneheart insisted.
"There are other clanmates that need your help!" Sparkfire hissed as he ducked out of the way of a blow. He was weak from getting sick, and he figured his energy would run out soon.
Stoneheart reluctantly listened to his friend as he leaped to Shadowsplash's side and bowled into one of the rogues.
Iceshadow leaned down to his mother after he kicked the other rogue away. "Snowfall, are you okay? I think I should bring you to the Medicine Cat's Den." He meowed, his eyes gleaming in worry.
ReplyDeleteSnowfall shook her head as she lay in a small bed of ferns, which were now glistening red as blood from her wounds dripped onto them. "No...I must... Continue fighting." She said, her voice hoarse. Shakily, she tried to stand up, but fell back down, breathless. "Fine... I'll go to the Medicine Cat Den... But I'm still going to protect our herb store." She meowed, taking a deep breath.
Iceshadow gulped, knowing how weak she was. Great StarClan, please don't let anything happen to her... He prayed, knowing that he couldn't change his mother's mind. As he helped her towards the Medicine Cat Den, he nodded to Goldfeather and Fallenpaw before he left. Please, look after her... He thought, before getting lost in the mass of battling cats.
Goldenbreeze noticed that Sparkfire looked really badly injured, so she ran over to help him. She leaped over his back and attacked the rouge that was fighting him. She lashed out at it.
ReplyDelete--Goldenbreeze
Sparkfire shot Goldenbreeze a grateful nod as he tried to regrain what little energy he had left. I may be sick, but I will not let these fox-hearted cats beat OakClan!
ReplyDeleteCloudstar knocked away a gray-brown tabby she-cat, and began surveying the clearing. Iceshadow said that the leader was a big, black tom... He shouldn't be so hard to find. He thought, quickly scanning each cat, until he found the one he was looking for. The burly tom was fighting on the warriors, and was easily overpowering them. Not on my watch! Cloudstar thought, narrowing his eyes and let out a long yowl before he barreled into him.
ReplyDeleteGoldenbreeze nodded in respect to Sparkfire, as she kept on scoring her claws down the rouge's side.
ReplyDelete--Goldenbreeze
Once Sparkfire figured he had enough energy to continue fighting, he lashed out at the rouge, feeling his claws meet successfully with flesh.
ReplyDeleteShadowsplash nodded with gratitude at Stoneheart. She leaped at the other tabby as he tried to help his friend. Her claws raked the brown rouges ears, and her jaws clamped hard on his shoulder. The rouge yowled in pain, and pummeled her belly with his hind legs. "Reow!"
ReplyDeleteStoneheart dug his claws into the rouge's side as they both tumbled to the ground. "You're a bunch of fox-hearts, attacking a Clan that's suffering from this drought!" He managed to sink his teeth into the cat's tail and he bit down hard, causing the rouge to turn tail and leave the clearing.
ReplyDeleteThe black tom hissed in fury, slicing at Cloudstar with his claws, trying everything to rip at the leader's fur. "So you must be the filthy cat who decided to invade our forest." Cloudstar snarled, nimbly dodging the attacks. "You'll soon regret it!" He flew at the heavily muscled cat, shoving him backwards with his front paws. This should be easier than I thought... He thought with satisfaction.
ReplyDeleteMistyfur frowned and growled at at moltted grey tom approaching the nursery. With a furious hiss, she raced tawards him and swiped her claw over his face and sholder.
ReplyDeleteSquirrelfoot continued fighting a rogue but felt her streaght weakening.I'm not as young as i used to be.She thought sadly as she swiped at his face.
