A New Hope, and Old Worries Return

Goldenbreeze steadied herself on the Oak Branch, liking the feel of the smooth, soft wood. I don't know how Cloudstar springs so easily onto this thing... I could barely keep a grip! She thought, wondering how the frail tom was doing. It had been a few sunrises since the attack, and the leader still kept himself shut inside his den, not wanting to face his clanmates. The only time he ventured outside was the night for Snowfall's vigil, which he stayed out all night, and looked as if he was going to bite the heads off the elder's when they came to bury her. Poor Cloudstar... I do hope he goes back to his duties soon... I can't keep on telling the Clan that he's still injured... They might get suspicious soon. She shook her head. I mustn't think these unhappy thoughts! This is a good ceremony, and I must show the Clan that I am strong. Fallenpaw and Honeyfrost had come back from their journey from the Moon(thing) at moon-high yesterday, and now they were holding the meeting. And along the way, they had met a few wary travelers, who agreed to join the Clan.

"Let all those cats old enough to catch their own prey join beneath the Oak Branch for a Clan meeting!" Cats began to emerge out of the dens, but most were already beneath the tree. News of Fallenpaw's return passed through the Clan quickly, and they were eager to hear what StarClan said. Once the cats were settled, Goldenbreeze's began, her voice confident as it rang throughout the clearing. "Fallenpaw and Honeyfrost came back from the Moon(thing) last night, and it is time to share if StarClan has granted her wish of being a full Medicine Cat." She nodded towards the small she-cat, gesturing for her to speak.

Fallenpaw straightened up, and began to speak. "Yes, StarClan has accepted my wish and I am now a full Medicine Cat. They have named me Fallenpath." She meowed, her voice quiet but her eyes brimming with determination.

Cheers erupted through the crowd, as if the Clan had forgotten all other troubles. "Fallenpath! Fallenpath!" Was heard in the cheering.

Goldenbreeze nodded towards Fallenpath, relief in her chest. "Good. And while they were traveling back, they came across some cats who have decided to join OakClan." She meowed, though cats seemed suspicious as they eyed the newcomers, and began to wonder if they were rogues or not. As the three cats came to stand in front of her, she began the ceremony. "Ember, Aerial, Tern, do you promise to protect and to defend this Clan, even with the cost of your life?"

"I do." They meowed, their voices strong and clear.

"Then by the power of StarClan, I give you your new names. Ember, you will be known as Embersky. Aerial, you will be known as Aerialflight. And Tern, you will be known as Ternfoot." The cats nodded, and even though the Clan was still a bit wary, they cheered their new clanmates names. Goldenbreeze waved her tail for the cheering to end, as she still needed to announce on last thing. "Honeyfrost also happened to stumble upon a kit, who will be known as Rainkit." The Clan nodded, more relaxed that it was a young cat, and welcomed her warmly.

"That is all! Meeting dismissed." But just as she was about to smoothly jump off the Oak Branch, a cat called out,

"Wait! Are we really leaving our territory because of the rogues?"

  1. Goldenbreeze looked around to find the cat that just spoke, but she was too late so she didn't see any cat's mouth move. She glanced around, and looked over at Cloudstar. "It's Cloudstar's decision!" she called out. Even though Cloudstar was injured and frail, it was his decision if OakClan would leave it's territory, not hers.

  2. Shadowsplash cared little about the newcomers. "Surely Oakclan is strong enough to hold their own against worthless rouges?" Her meow rose loudly to the crowd.

  3. (I like Fallenpaw's new name! Thanks! :P)

Fallenpath clenched her jaw. It was forbidden to speak of her meeting with Starclan with anyone. In addition to accepting her, they had warned her of dire times to come, showing a dry, lifeless territory punctuated by dark shapes that were somehow menacing...

Birdpaw met her sister's eyes and then looked away again. So she's the medicine cat now, she thought. Little miss important, huh. Birdpaw frowned. She was used to being the one on top, beating her sister in everything, being the stronger one. It was strange and, to Birdpaw, a blow to her ego for Fallenpath to be in such an important position while she was just another apprentice.

  4. "We can't leave!" Stoneheart protested. "Sparkfire's far too weak!"

Sparkfire was resting by the warrior's den. Ever since the battle, he had refused to go anywhere else and he didn't want to infect anybody else with his sickness. However, he knew StarClan wasn't far off.

Firekit opened his mouth to make a retort, but snapped it shut. He had been scolded earlier and he didn't want to be scolded again.

Snowpaw stood up, shaking his snowy-white pelt to rid any twigs. "Whatever we are doing, shouldn't we at least hunt for the Clan?"

  5. Iceshadow stared coldly at Shadowsplash. "Cloudstar was weak from the sickness and losing a life, it is not his or anyone's fault that the rogues... won." He flicked his tail with agitation. "And if I do recall, you needed help driving off a couple of 'worthless' rogues." He meowed defensively. "Goldenbreeze, Fallenpath, and I will talk to Cloudstar about this. Until then, I'm sure you can be helpful and hunt, or fix up some of the dens." He nodded to Goldenbreeze.

Cloudstar lifted his head weakly from inside the den, the voices more like a blur to him. His body willed him to get up and show the Clan support, but his mind said otherwise.

  6. Goldenbreeze returned the nod to Iceshadow before padding off after Iceshadow into Cloudstar's den. She settled down on one side of him, and waited for the others to join. "Cloudstar, what are we going to do? Do we leave the territory or not?" She asked with wide eyes. "There's too many injured cats, I don't think we can make a journey out of it," she sighed.

  7. (Ack! Sorry guys! I had sports tryouts/practices for the past few days. So If I'm not on, you'll know where I am DX I'll be able to get on more when those are over which is at the end of the week ^^)

Cloudstar followed his deputy with his gaze as she entered the den, his eyes looking as if they were sightless. Leaving? It seems like a hassle... He thought, his memories a blur about the attack, and the word "hassle" escaped his mouth in a whisper.

Iceshadow stepped forward, feeling lost without his Father's usual guidance. "Father... I know it has been rough lately, with all the events that have taken place." He didn't want to say Snowfall's name, for he thought it would make Cloudstar delve in farther of where he was right now. "But your Clan needs you. We all need you." He meowed hopelessly, though Cloudstar didn't seem like he was listening.

  8. Honeyfrost paded up from behind Snowpaw."Your right.Witch is why we're going hunting."She told her apprentice.

Blue flower looked sympethicaly at Stoneheart and then. curiously at the newcomers.

Mistyfur looked softly at Rainkit, worry for all the kits prickling at her thoughts.

Dustpaw sat outside the apprentice's den,his tail tip twitching with worry for his mentor.

Rainkit looked around her new home with a mix of curiosity and wonder.

(Sorry I haven't been on! My computer isen't working bed well.Stella should Cold and Fallen meet again?)

  9. Goldenbreeze gave Iceshadow a sympathetic glance. "Cloudstar," she meowed. Her tail tip twitched anxiously for him to answer, but she couldn't wait any longer. "Cloudstar! We need you to make the decision if we leave or not." She raised her voice but softened at the end, hoping to snap Cloustar out of his thought.

  10. (Yes, I think they should. Coldpaw's on his way to battle Stellarclan and I'll have Fallenpath gather herbs. They can meet as Coldpaw's running to attack Stellarclan.)

Fallenpath slipped into the den and turned her anxious gold-green eyes to Cloudstar. He doesn't look well at all...I don't think it would be a very good idea to move him...but we have to! Fallenpaw swallowed. She had no experience in dealing with severe shock, and somehow she didn't think poppy seeds would help.

  11. "Okay," Snowpaw dipped his head in reply to his mentor. "I will do my absolute best."

[Sorry for not being active! School's a drag. Dx]

  12. Shadowsplash flicked her tail. "I didn't ask for help." She brightened. "But I will hunt." She quickly exited camp, relishing in being outside that dingy little space.

Clawkit, Ravenkit, and Badgerkit looked helplessly after eachother, not even bothing to cuddle close to eachother for comfort.
